Southern Nana’s Meatloaf

This meatloaf pairs wonderfully with classic sides like creamy mashed potatoes, sweet cornbread, and green beans or steamed broccoli. Southern Nana’s Meatloaf

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 large egg
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/2 cup ketchup (plus more for topping)

Directions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, green bell pepper, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, paprika, and 1/2 cup of ketchup.

3. Mix everything together thoroughly with your hands until well blended.

4. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

5. Spread a thin layer of ketchup on top of the meatloaf for a delicious glaze.

6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).

7. Allow the meatloaf to rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
